From years of dancing on her mom and dad's bed as a little girl, taking dance classes, playing outdoors and skiing the green mountains of Vermont, Laura is passionate about embodying and studying movement.  She believes that dance and movement can offer one a unique and empowering way to calm the mind and enhance the spirit.  Her passion for dance and movement continued to develop as an undergraduate student at Bowdoin College where she began to explore Modern Dance and Yoga.  Both gave her a sense of respite and connection to herself.

In addition to completing her MFA in Modern Dance, Laura has danced in Boston, New York, Vermont, Toronto, Maine, Bordeaux, France and San Francisco.  During graduate school, Laura completed the Polestar Pilates full certification program and has had the opportunity to teach a variety of populations from expecting mothers, new mothers, athletes, dancers, people rehabbing injuries and others who are seeking a new form of exercise and fitness.

Laura has completed continuing education courses in Upper Extremity Alignment and Movement with Irene Dowd, Advanced Spine through Polestar Pilates, Body-Mind Centering with Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen and Pilates for Rehabilitation with Lizz Roman.  In addition to pursuing Pilates, Laura has also completed a Reiki 1 certification program with Dr. Carol Wilson and is also an active Yoga student who continues to dance and choreograph.

She believes that less is often more in  movement and even in life.  If we simplify, notice the subtleties that are speaking to us in our lives and in our bodies, we can live in a less painful and more open and free space. Part of what draws Laura to her work as a movement teacher and dancer is the challenging work involved in investigating the self and accepting one's unique body.  As a dedicated teacher, Laura truly enjoys assisting others in feeling good inside their bodies and succeeding in moving in a fun and rewarding way.
